When To Refer A Student

Examples of when to refer a student to the counselor:
- A visibly upset student
- Students who continuously sleep in class
- A student that displays continuously confrontational behavior
- A student that continuously disrupts the learning environment
- A student that displays continuous or sudden failing grades
- A student with a consistent or sudden un-kept appearance
- Suspected abuse or neglect
Examples of immediate / emergency referrals:
(Text me immediately and do not leave the student unattended. If I do not answer, call the principal)
- Mention of suicidal ideation and intent
- Threats of harm to self or others
- Excessive anxiety, agitation, or worry
