When To Refer A Student

  • Examples of when to refer a student to the counselor:

    • A visibly upset student
    • Students who continuously sleep in class
    • A student that displays continuously confrontational behavior
    • A student that continuously disrupts the learning environment
    • A student that displays continuous or sudden failing grades
    • A student with a consistent or sudden un-kept appearance
    • Suspected abuse or neglect

    Examples of immediate / emergency referrals:

    (Text me immediately and do not leave the student unattended. If I do not answer, call the principal)

    • Mention of suicidal ideation and intent
    • Threats of harm to self or others
    • Excessive anxiety, agitation, or worry
